Texture is inspired by the spiky, woody seed pods of the Crow Ash. This work is handmade and one of a kind.
Suitable to hold water.
Due to the tightly packed texture, applied one at a time this work took a long time to create.
HANDS TO CLAY: 7 hours - To slowly hand form and apply each textured piece by hand then shape, smooth and finish. Slowly dried over three weeks.
KILN FIRE 1: 16hr bisque fire in solar powered kiln & 24hr to cool.
GLAZE: 1.5 hrs to delicately hand paint 5 coats of glaze.
KILN FIRE 2: 18hr high fire in solar powered kiln & 24hr to cool.
RE-GLAZE: 30min to correct small glaze imperfections caused by the tightly packed, highly textured surface.
KILN FIRE 3: 18hr high fire in solar powered kiln & 24hr to cool
